Brass Battery Tube
Manufactured from corrosion resistant, hardened brass.
This gives the brass battery tube excellent corrosion resistance properties and also features an increased wall thickness providing superior battery protection.
The increased wall thickness also allows the battery tube assembly to provide a larger conductive area ensuring the best load current handling. This feature also allows for the battery tube assembly to utilise the installation of heavy duty metric threads giving easy thread maintenance, reduction of the risk of cross threading, and ensures a long service life in the most extreme of operating conditions.
Due to the hardening process and composition of the brass, the brass battery tube has excellent soldering characteristics and is easily polished to maintain a corrosion resistant surface finish and a lustrous yellow - gold shine that is traditionally associated with brass, making this tube perfect for the installation into mod enclosures that may feature externally exposed battery tube surfaces.
The maximum diameter of batteries that can be installed inside the brass battery tube allowing for a surrounding air gap between the battery and inside wall is 18.8mm.
Battery Access Screw
Also manufactured from brass and is designed with a finger grip edge to allow for hand tightening.
A total of six ventilation holes each with an area of 3.1mm2 each provide a total ventilation inlet/outlet area of 18.6mm2 providing adequate ventilation of air into the battery tube assembly when in normal use conditions and a pathway for venting gases leaving the battery should the situation occur.
The battery access screw also features a raised contact pad ensuring that excellent battery contact is provided and that vent holes are not obstructed by the base of the installed battery reducing any risk of interference of conductivity from oversized battery wraps.
Larger and heavy duty threads also provide increased surface area, giving the best conductivity between the battery and tube body and as mentioned in the battery tube description provide ease of maintenance and reduce the risk of cross threading.
Positive Solder Terminal
Machined from a copper alloy giving the terminal superior conductivity and soldering characteristics but also a high degree of corrosion resistance.
A large terminal hole is provided allowing for wires as large as 12.57mm2 (7AWG) in conductive surface area to be soldered directly into the terminal without the need of using solder tabs, which can become fragile during installation or become loose during use due to the effects of heat and vibrations.
In addition to ease of connection we have thrown away the use of threaded fastening components for securing the positive terminal into the insulator. Instead, we have designed the terminal with a circumferential groove allowing the terminal to be secured into the insulator with the use of a phosphated carbon spring steel retaining ring. Not only does this provide a quick way to secure the positive terminal to the inside of the insulator, it also provides freedom of movement during installation of the battery tube but also allowing for any rotational forces exerted by the battery when the access screw is being tightened into the battery tube. As a result of this the positive terminal is essentially floating inside the insulator and puts no stress into loosening or weakening the soldered connection.
The design of a larger terminal not only provides a component that is easier to handle, but provides a larger surface contact area with the wire ensuring excellent conductivity and a more durable and forgiving connection suitable for almost any size wire and entirely capable of any load that will be required.
A raised contact pad is also featured on the positive solder terminal ensuring that sufficient connection and conductive surface area is provided to the battery terminal and also reduces the risk of interference that can be caused from oversized battery wraps.
Positive Terminal Insulator
Machined from a solid chunk of black Delrin Acetal Resin.
This engineering grade thermoplastic provides the positive terminal insulator with great tensile strength, stiffness and insulation properties, but also high wear, impact and corrosion resistance. A larger insulation material area also increases the separation between the positive and negative conductive surface areas of the battery tube assembly.
Positive Terminal Retaining Ring
Manufactured from Phosphated Carbon Spring Steel.
The use of the retaining ring as mentioned in the positive solder terminal description above allows for quick fitment of the positive solder terminal to the positive solder terminal insulator.
This also allows freedom of any movement that may be required of the positive solder terminal and its attached wire during the installation of the battery tube assembly in your chosen enclosure and any rotational forces that may be exerted on the positive solder terminal during the installation and removal of the battery into the battery tube assembly.

The Vapour Shack 18350 Battery Tube Assembly is designed to fit a single battery with a flat type positive terminal with a maximum length of up to 35mm.
If you intend to use this battery tube assembly with stacked batteries or batteries that feature a button type positive terminal and/or the total length of the battery is longer than the international standard manufactured specification of 35mm, please advise our friendly staff in your order notes when purchasing with what specifications or configuration that you require and we will manufacture the battery tube assembly to match the appropriate battery length or configuration required at no extra cost.
Irregular Size Batteries
As part of our battery tube assembly design, we have also included a total of 2mm extra thread depth for the battery access screw. Batteries can sometimes deviate in length from the international standard size of 35mm and the addition of this design feature allows for inconsistencies in battery lengths.
As a result, the battery access screw is recessed into the battery tube assembly by a distance of 2mm when tightened when using batteries that match the international standard 35mm length.
This design feature allows the battery tube assembly to accommodate for batteries that have a total length of up to 37mm and will bring the battery access screw flush to the base of the battery tube assembly.
If you do not require this design feature, please advise our staff in your order notes and we can also remove this feature if it is not required. Removal of this feature shortens the total battery tube assembly length to 49.8mm. This may be beneficial to you if you are intending to install the battery tube assembly into enclosures that have size constraints such as traditional smoker's pipes.

The Vapour Shack 18350 Battery Tube Assembly comes supplied in a shrink wrapped protective plastic and the conductive components are lightly coated with oil so that it can be stored away for use in a later project. If you do not require the protective coating please let our staff know in your order notes when placing your order.
The positive solder terminal and positive terminal retaining ring are placed disassembled inside the battery tube assembly allowing for quick preparation and fitment prior to installation of the battery tube assembly into the enclosure of your choice.
